By the Lock

This small town garden by the side of a canal was a second home so needed to be practical and low maintenance, while being a haven for relaxation. The clients did not want a lawn and wished to include a copper tree water feature and two pieces of sculpture. The garden was designed as a gravel garden with porcelain paving, which is extremely practical and gives the contemporary feel the clients liked. The planting was designed to be drought tolerant and easy to look after. Raised beds helped to define the different areas and gave additional places to sit and stare.
